About the Artist

In February 2019, Loisanne has achieved the Saguaro  Fellow status with the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild.  This is the highest  status the Guild recognizes.

Loisanne began painting in watercolor after retiring from her professional career in health care.  She has studied painting with both regional and international artists including Sterling Edwards, Stephen Quiller, Ron Ranson, Tony Couch and others.

She is intrigued by the challenge of painting with watercolor because of its fluidity.  Her chosen style is 'wet on wet', soaking the watercolor paper with water before applying watercolor paints with large brushes.  From initial dilute washes to finishing with intense colors, she always must keep in mind that the paint dries thirty percent lighter than when applied. Loisanne loves painting landscapes, especially skies, attempting to capture the beauty of the natural world in a more impressionistic style.  One of the joys she experiences occurs when people, looking at her art, say they 'feel the quiet' of her paintings.
