"El Celador", The Watchman in the Sonoran desert. The Saguaro can live hundreds of years, and can take 75+ years to develop the arms. It can sustain itself through the hot summers and dry weather due to the large amount of water stored in its body. I think of it as the Watchman or Guardian of our Sonoran Desert, an icon of Arizona, the only place that the Saguaro grows. The Sonoran National Park is located in both eastern and western Pima county, where the Saguaro covers the mountains.
I loved painting the dramatic sunset, with the Saguaro overlooking the sunset and the Mts.
